You may think "Angel, why would you bother locking your journal, when the point of social media is to meet new people? Aren't you taking away someone's chance to get to know you a little, and make the decision whether they want to follow you? Isn't what you're doing more than a little counter-productive?"

To which I would say to you that "you have a point. It's true that I like meeting new people, and it can be difficult to do that if I keep a lock on what I say. But things have happened to make me even more wary of shouting things into the ether, so with all due respect, this is how I deal with it. Call it a Thing." I do make a few public entries, usually of the "I know someone who could use help" or "This thing is awesome, and the Whole World should know about it!" kind. But anything personal is locked.

Here there be posts about things like travel, books, cooking, cats, the occasional existential thought, music, and squeals of delight over people whose work I enjoy. If it sounds like your cup of tea, drop a note! Commenting here works much, much better than sending a PM, because I pretty much never check them.
